Our Journey Began On The Laikipia Plateau
Moseville's first guests weren't guests at all — they were a rotating cast of friends, cousins, and one very patient driving instructor, all talked into a borrowed Land Cruiser for a weekend on the Laikipia Plateau because our founder had just spent a season learning the conservancy's back tracks from a ranger who refused to be paid in anything but diesel and cigarettes. There was no itinerary, no brochure, and no name for the outfit yet — just a rough plan, a cooler of warm sodas, and a conviction that the standard safari, watched through glass at a polite distance, was missing the point entirely.
Word moved the way it always does in a small industry — one satisfied guest telling the next — and within two seasons the borrowed Land Cruiser had become two owned ones, the ranger had a proper contract instead of a carton of cigarettes, and Moseville had a name, taken from the very conviction that started it: that the reality of a place is worth more than the postcard of it.
Today we run tailor-made safaris, summit treks, cycling routes, rock climbs, and gorilla trekking across ten countries, but the operating model hasn't moved far from that first weekend on the Plateau. Every guide we hire has spent years, not months, on the ground they take you to. Every vehicle is ours. Every ranger relationship is one we've held for seasons, not one arranged for a single booking.
We are still, at heart, the same outfit that once talked a driving instructor into a weekend in the bush — just with better vehicles, and slightly warmer sodas.

Every Moseville guide has spent years, not months, on the specific ground they take you to. We don't rotate staff between destinations they've never actually lived near.
Small Groups On Purpose
Most of our itineraries cap out well below industry standard group sizes. It costs us more to run trips this way. We do it anyway because it changes what a guide can actually show you.
Conservation Isn't A Slogan Here
Our rhino and gorilla encounters run through conservancies and ranger programmes we have long-standing relationships with — not one-off arrangements made for a single tour group.

Travel That Puts Something Back
The ranger who taught our founder those first Laikipia tracks is still on our books today, and the conservancy he works for is one of several we now support directly — a portion of every rhino sanctuary visit goes straight back into ranger salaries and anti-poaching patrols, not a head-office fund we never see the results of.
The same goes for the Maasai communities our Tanzania guests spend time with, and the porter teams who carry more than their fair share up Uganda's volcanic highlands. We'd rather have fewer, deeper relationships with the people who make these trips possible than a long list of causes we've never actually visited.
